Massive 8.9 Earthquake Hits Japan

A huge 8.9 earthquake has struck northern Japan followed by a 33ft tsunami. Large aftershocks are continuing. This has already caused deaths and injuries and is likely to cause a massive amount of destruction.


There had been earthquakes earlier in the week in Japan and China, where there were a number of deaths, but this is by far the most damaging.

Although the area it's well know for it's earthquakes and people are well prepared this is reportedly the largest one for more than 100 years.

This area is well know for it's earthquakes being in what is know as the 'Pacific Ring of Fire'. There aretsunami warnings out for Taiwan and Hawaii.
