Stellarvue SV110ED Refractor

The Stellarvue SV110ED is the largest ED doublet refractor telescope in their range and uses a hand figured ED lens known for its exceptional image quality, and produces a brighter and higher resolution image than the 102ED, which uses the same glass and lens design. The photographs taken with this telescope show a greater amount of detail than those taken with the SV102ED.

Fully multicoated ED objective lens:

With a 110mm f-7 doublet objective lens using an Ohara FPL-51 ED element, this telescope presents an excellent star test with color correction that is superior to a typical achromat.

The lenses are hand figured by a master optician to a high Strehl ratio. These are not mass produced, machine made lenses. The Stellarvue SV110ED Refractor uses an ED objective lens that has been tested three times in the USA, for added quality control. Several layers of extreme broadband coatings are used on all four of the lens surfaces.

This further enhances the contrast of the image: the stars appear vivid and bright against a dark black background. These coatings transmit light above and below the visual spectrum making them well suited for ccd imaging.

Stardust white aluminum tube and dew shield: The aluminum tube and dew shield is painted in a lustrous and beautiful stardust white finish. This white finish will stand out against the black anodized aluminum fittings giving this telescope a high-end, classy look. The dew shield can either be extended or retracted.

Extension reduces dewing at night can cut out the light from those blaring street lamps. The dew shield also serves as a lens shade during the day. Retraction will reduce the length of your telescope tube for convenient storage.

Internal tube treatment

The inside of the tube assembly is painted "ultra flat black" to cut down on excess reflection. The inside of the focuser is threaded, creating ridges. These ridges are painted, reducing the most commonly found type of reflected glare.

This treatment provides better glare reduction than focusers that only have the ridging to prevent glare. All of these methods add up to provide the outstanding contrast of the ED lens.

Bino-viewer Ready

The Stellarvue SV110ED Refractor uses a 4 3/4" precision threaded tube in front of the focuser. With this tube in place, the telescope operates as any refractor and may be used with a star diagonal or an erecting prism and eyepiece.

The user may remove this tube to thread the focuser directly into the rear of the telescope. This will place the focuser 4 3/4" closer the objective lens, allowing for the use of bino-viewers without adapters or extra lenses.

This will provide the brightest, sharpest and widest field of view when bino-viewing. Another advantage of this modular design is that the extension tube and focuser may be unthreaded to make the telescope short enough to carry on an airplane.

Since the Stellarvue SV110ED Refractor is precision aligned and all parts are made on cnc machines, alignment remains perfect as the user changes from one mode to the next. Precision threaded parts that are rigidly attached maintain perfect alignment better than slide tubes.

Basic version dual speed Crayford focuser with precision bearings

The 2" Crayford focuser uses a compression ring and has three thumb screws to secure accessories and cameras firmly in place. A compression ring 1.25" adapter with 2" filter thread is also provided. The focuser has three focusing knobs, one on the left and two on the right.

The single knob on the left and a larger knob on the right provide coarse focusing. On the right side is a second, slightly smaller, brass colored fine focus knob. This fine focus knob has an 11-1 rotation reducer, allowing for fine and accurate focusing. The reducer in the Stellarvue focuser uses a hardened stainless steel shaft and precision ball bearings, giving it greater longevity than some competitive dual speed focusers.

A tension adjustment set screw is positioned under the focuser and a thumb screw allows for locking the focuser when engaged in astro-photography. The drawtube is inscribed with a millimeter scale on top. Two 5 mm threaded holes on top of the focuser allow for the attachment of two separate finder scopes. The focuser is fully rotating, only requiring the loosening of a knob.

Aluminum hinged rings

The Stellarvue SV110ED Refractor comes with two hinged, aluminum mounting rings. Each ring has five screws, top and bottom. Threaded holes are 6mm. There is one center hole, two holes spaced 1.5" apart and two holes spaced 60 mm apart. Use the optional TP-10 rail for telescope mounts using the Vixen style rail or use the optional TP6 for mounts that use the larger Losmandy style rail.
