Meade Refractor Telescope

For outstanding visual and photographic performance the Meade Refractor Telescope offers an extremely portable package.

It's true that for crisp wide field observing and imaging, nothing can beat a true triple-element apochromatic (APO) refractor telescope, and this is especially true if you intend to do astrophotography, where APOs have produced some of the most beautiful images of the heavens ever taken from earth.

However, not all APOs are made the same. The market today is filled with semi-APOs (with two lenses instead of three) that do not bring all of the colors to focus in the refractor.

The Result Of A Two Year Design Process

As a consequence of a two-year design process and a triple objective lens made from the highest quality ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, Meade Series 5000 ED APO Triplets are virtually free of chromatic aberration (color fringing).

What this means is that they outperform the highest price tagged semi-APOs at a fraction of the price.

Professional observers will be thrilled by the total absence of color fringing and the scope's textbook-perfect pinpoint star images. Even a novice will notice the spectacular high contrast and resolution of a Series 5000 APO.

Three models make up the current range

  • Meade 80mm ED APO Triplet Refractor
  • Meade 102mm (4") ED APO Triplet Refractor
  • Meade 127mm (5") ED APO Triplet Refractor

All models feature a super precise dual speed 2" Crayford focuser with 10:1 gear reduction for ultra fine focus control.
