SkyShed POD a great Observatory

by Mike Weasner
(Arizona)

In July 2009, I (with help from some friends) set up a SkyShed POD XL5 on my land. Since then, the POD has been the perfect observatory for me. I spend almost every clear night there, observing and imaging. Yes, there are many solutions for building your own observatory, but the SkyShed POD was my choice.

For more information on my decision process, the initial planning, site preparation, and POD installation, see my "Road to Oracle Observatory" blog:

Great Observatory
by: David

Hi,

I have just taken a look at your site and really impressed with what you have done.

It's great to see what can be achieved if you put your mind to it. I'm looking to build an home observatory myself shortly, although I don't think it will be quite so grand.

Still it's stuff like this that acts as an inspiration to us other budding astronomers.
