TeleVue Panoptic 68° Field Eyepiece

Long Eye Relief, 68° Field Eyepiece

The TeleVue Panoptic series of eyepieces has taken the Wide-Field concept to Nagler-like performance levels.

This is a purposeful move forward over any other eyepiece in its 68° field class.

Al Nagler, by using Wide-Field design as a starting point looked to bring Nagler-like performance to the 60+° field class with the Panoptic series.

The concept of a lens to "interface" in between the eyepiece and Barlow seemed to be the most suitable way to keep size, weight and cost as low as possible whilst improving upon edge of field performance even more.

Panoptic 19mm

The size, weight and performance make the 19mm an excellent mid power chioce and an excellent "soul-mate" to Bino Vue. Parfocal with 15mm and other smaller Plössls and Naglers.

  • Focal Length (mm) 19
  • Barrel Size (in.) 1¼"
  • Apparent Field of View (deg.) 68
  • Eye Relief (mm) 13
  • Weight (lb / oz) 0.41 / 6.6
  • Field Stop (mm) 21.3

Panoptic 24mm

The higher power of this TeleVue Panoptic eyepiece darkens the sky background while the greater magnification yields more details on extended objects. Additionally, its light weight (1/2 lb.), comfortable 15mm eye relief, and tapered top instantly help make the 24mm Panoptic the optimal eyepiece for obtaining the maximum field for binocular viewers.

  • Focal Length (mm) 24
  • Barrel Size (in.) 1¼"
  • Apparent Field of View (deg.) 68
  • Eye Relief (mm) 15
  • Weight (lb / oz) 0.51 / 8.2
  • Field Stop (mm) 27

Panoptic 27mm

This 27mm eyepiece is designed to deliver the largest true field possible in a 1¼" eyepiece. (Its 27mm field stop is the same as the 32mm Tele Vue Plössl).

Housed in a 2" barrel like the 35mm, the 27mm is lighter an smaller. It's perfect for any telescope size, type or speed, where a little more magnification is desired, yet still allows full field viewing with eyeglasses.

The increased power darkens the sky background whilst the larger magnifying power results in far more details on extended objects. Further more, its light weight (1/2 lb.), comfortable 15mm eye relief, and tapered top instantly make the 27mm Panoptic an most suitable eyepiece for obtaining the absolute maximum field for binocular viewers.

  • Focal Length (mm) 27
  • Barrel Size (in.) 2"
  • Apparent Field of View (deg.) 68
  • Eye Relief (mm) 19
  • Weight (lb / oz) 1.03 / 16.4
  • Field Stop (mm) 30.5

Panoptic 35mm

The TeleVue Panoptic 35mm eyepiece has a large true field with an abundance of eye relief for eyeglass wearers. When combined with a Paracorr to correct the coma of an f/4.5 Newtonian, performance is spectacular across the 68 degree field. Just imagine, sharp star clusters at the extreme edge of the field along with a 6.8mm exit pupil.

  • Focal Length (mm) 35
  • Barrel Size (in.) 2"
  • Apparent Field of View (deg.) 68
  • Eye Relief (mm) 24
  • Weight (lb / oz) 1.60 / 25.6
  • Field Stop (mm) 38.7

Panoptic 41mm

The 41mm Panoptic eyepiece is a big brother to the 24mm Panoptic (largest 1.25" field). With its 46mm field stop, the 41mm Panoptic delivers the largest 2" field possible. The adjustable and removable screw-type top makes it possible for speedy, comfortable eye positioning whilst the scalloped shape gives a positive grip.

  • Focal Length (mm) 41
  • Barrel Size (in.) 2"
  • Apparent Field of View (deg.) 68
  • Eye Relief (mm) 27
  • Weight (lb / oz) 2.10 / 33.6
  • Field Stop (mm) 46
